4. Interview Prep: Say What? 📝

Question: How would you approach securing data in the cloud differently than on-premises?

Answer:

Cloud security operates on a shared responsibility model, meaning the cloud provider secures the underlying infrastructure while you're responsible for securing your data, applications, and configurations. When securing data in the cloud, I’d leverage built-in cloud security tools such as identity and access management (IAM), encryption at rest and in transit, and continuous monitoring of access logs.

In contrast, on-premises security involves more direct control over physical hardware and network configurations. The key is to apply consistent security policies and best practices in both environments, ensuring that misconfigurations—which can be especially risky in the cloud—are minimized. Think of it like ensuring your lucky shamrock is always in the right place, whether you're at home or on the go.
